Be kind

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” — Ian Maclaren

If you have sent me a postcard but haven’t been thanked by me, please be patient with me and know that I cherish every postcard I receive. <3

I’m afraid I’m not very well of late. Please forgive me for my long absence.

On life:

(by Soda Green 蘇打綠)

秋風,推開緊閉的門扉;

梧桐,吹亂漫身黃雨煙;

向桃花的盡頭追;

這綿延的故事還未了;

生活,幾莖頭髮幾莖愁;

衣袖沾溼不要緊;

醒來,也無風雨也無晴;

Jimmy Eat World

Should I feel embarrassed to admit that I still listen to the band I listened to as a teenager? :P

I would like to dedicate this song to our Hong Kong :( The world we love. The world with freedom.

And this song goes to those salad days that everyone shares –

Finally, this song is dedicated to John Watson by Sherlock Holmes (with love, of course):

I can’t stop teasing them. >_< The great love story of the century. :P

But I love you so much, Sherlock. You are such a weirdo.

My birthday month :D

January is my birthday month. ^O^ I received a birthday postcard from the Hong Kong Post on the last day of 2013. :D

The card shows the Hong Kong Post car and the HK postman’s uniform nowadays. :)

Birthday postcard by Hong Kong Post

Thanks for the efficient and reliable postal service you bring to us, my dear Hong Kong Post. :D

Happy New Year 2014! :D (Full of smiles and mails)

Here comes my first post for 2014! :D Happy New Year to you! (Thanks for visiting my blog, by the way :D)

2013 has been a year full of smiles, tears and mails (mostly postcards from Postcrossing! xD) for me. Hopefully 2014 will be full of even more mails and surprises!

This new year is romantic for the Chinese because the numbers 1314 sound like “forever” in Mandarin and Cantonese. :)

2014, please bring more lovely mails to me! :D

Love from Suomi 01

Snail mail never dies. xD

Love from Suomi 02

In 2013, I used one of the keys to open my first P.O.Box for words from all over the world. In 2014, the same P.O. Box thirsts for more mails. :D

Love from Suomi 03

Thanks for making my mailbox happy! :D

(FINALLY!!!) Lovely Postcards of Hong Kong Vintage Posting Boxes! :D

I don’t remember for how long I’ve been waiting for their birth! >_< I finally stumbled across them at the Central Post Office shop on 7 Dec 2013 – what a lovely surprise! :D

There are 16 postcards in total and some of them show the unique green vintage posting boxes in Hong Kong. :D

Hong Kong used to be a colony of the Great Britain so in the past we had lots of red British posting boxes. After the handover in 1997 there are still some vintage posting boxes left. The ones that have survived were all painted green and are still in service, except for the ones displayed at the Central Post Office, the Hong Kong Museum of History, etc.

I did visit the vintage pillar box at the Central Post Office in August 2013. :D It still looks fabulous! >_<

VR pillar box (Central - HK)

You can see “VR” on the pillar box. :) VR stands for Victoria Regina (24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901).

VR

Upon my request, we painted the pillar box in our August watercolour class. :D (One of the pillar boxes was painted by me xD The prettiest one was painted by our teacher :D)

I love vintage posting boxes so much that I decided to join the HK old postboxes checkup team to help preserve these lovely posting boxes. :D Many thanks to our Lemonhead leader. xD (Here is the blog of our team: http://hkoldpostbox.wordpress.com/)

I checked 4 posting boxes in Cheung Chau on 9Nov2013. :D —> http://hkoldpostbox.wordpress.com/tag/rabbit%E9%9A%8A%E5%93%A1/

Anyway, it’s time to show you the lovely postcards that I’ve bought recently. :D

My rabbit doodles in mid Nov :D

I felt relaxed doodling on a sunny Saturday afternoon, especially when I got to draw one of my favourite animals. :D

rabbits (doodling) - 16Nov2013

Rabbits are such sensitive animals. I would love to have a pet rabbit after I retire, when I have more time to dedicate to taking care of one. :D

My tiny post box collection :D

It all started on a sunny day in April. xD I got my first two British post boxes! :D

Post boxes_01

So pretty! >_<  *LOVE*

Post boxes_02

So that’s my cosy little post box collection. Thanks for reading, haha! xD

Hong Kong History in Stamps (book :D)

(Note: It’s not an official English translation…>_< just my own translation of the Chinese book I’m reading!)

I’m crazy about stamps & postcards. :D Even the book I’m reading is about stamps. :P

Hong Kong history in stamps
